Evening.

My broker (Dial Direct) is cancelling my policy at 2400 on the 23rd oc due to the DD bouncing (bank problems at the mo!).

I have tried to get them not to cancel, as I get paid on the 25th, and I'm more than happy to pay the installment by card then. However, they won't budge on the cancellation.

But...they stated in the letter that they had to give 7 days notice in writing and they sent the letter on the 18th and I received it today (which by my calculations is the 25th). I told them this, and they claimed that the policy booklet states that failing to collect the payment a second time counts as notice in writing...even though the letter is dated the 18th!!!

Have I got any recourse with regards to this. I know I broke the terms first, and I was all for paying on the 25th, but surely their letter blatently lied in saying I had 7 days notice?

Not too bothered, as I'm going to change insurers anyway, but it's a right pain in the nipsy.

here it goes. they should not have accepted your payment if they were going to default you. i suggest you contact them again and tell them you will escalate this matter further. also keep an eye on your card and account as they may be crafty and try to claim a direct debit. also have you reported a possible claim ? if so then you will be liabe for the whole premium even if it is settled and so on.
