Thread: tiscali ! BT !! deadlock

Hi guys,

i moved house in late sep, at my previous place i had bt landline(paying line rental to talk talk) and tiscali broadband,
at my new address there were ntl broadban + telewest phone line and bt socket,

i was thinking of going ahead and registering with ntl because i didnt had to have phone line for that and the socket was in my new room already, but the problem was that I had 12 month contract with tiscali ! and the only acceptable excuse to terminate contract was if tiscali cant supply me internet in that address,!!
i rang them up gave them post code to check and see whether they can provide me internet or not! they said they cant check it out with post code they need me to give them my new phone number !!!! (problems started from here!)
i spoke to talk talk they said they will charge me £108 pound to activate bt line for me,I spoke to bt directly they said they will not charg me and its free (even though once when i rang them they said there is charge of £35 coming up but they dont know what it is and I never agreed and i didnt go ahead at that time!, that was just a query) but they have to send engineer down to check the line and make sure its ok because it hasnt been used for long !!!
on october 2end my line wa sactivated, so i contacted tiscali and asked them to transfer my broadband!
normally it takes up to 10 days for th eprocess to be completed, !!
week late i recived a letter from bt asking me to pay £71.14 including
£30 off charge !
i rang them up and told them that i clearified that there will b no charge if i join but they gave me some excuses.., i told them this is not wat i was told at that time and go ahead and disconnect my line because im not going to take this. he tried to disconnect it for me but suddenly my phone's (mobile)battery went off and i lost the connection,
I was stuck in it and didnt know what to do !!!
because i still had 12 month contract with tiscali !!!
so i rang talk talk and told them to take over my line rental and they agreed to do that but bt didnt allow them to do stright away given them start date of 30/october,and sent me red reminder asking for 3month line rental as minimum contract.., plus 30off charge,..
by now tiscali hasnt fixed my internet yet !! they are still trying to fix it !!! its been over 15 days ...

i dont want to end up paying bt for non sense reason and get tiscali telling me they cant fix it for me,
i spoke to tiscali twice today they said they will send me new modem !!
second time i spoke to them they told me to give them another 48 hours it will be sorted !!!
can i legally terminate my tiscali contract !! and tell bt to F******,?
will bt take me to court if i dont pay only 1month line rental? and go with talk talk?
what if i keep with bt because i have 3month minimum contract but never pay £30 off charge ?!?
what should i do!!!
if my line gets disconnected before 30/oct then talk talk will nt be able to take over my line and i think this is what bt planing!!! waiting for me to make payment !!!

can someone suggest me somethhing please !!!
I dont want to take anymore S**** from those people

By the sounds of it, you never authorised BT to add these charges to your account. Send them a DPA SAR and to prove you authorised this charge. If you didn't authorise it and they can't prove it, take them to court.

If BT keep dragging their feet, not to worry, I'm sure the guys at Tiscali and Talk-Talk can come to some sort of settlement with you. Just explain the situation and tell them you can't continue with them because...

All will be fine, just takes time.

but does this means i shouldnt even be paying for first 3month line rental ? because i rang them yesterday and they said its in my contract !! even thou i didnt authorize 30 off charge, it seems that legally i should pay for first 3 month!

im still donno what o do to talk talk should they take over on 30/oct? assuming line will not be disconnected by bt because of late payment? or should i stay with bt and do what u told me to?
if i know that have to pay bt for 3month then i will stay with them for another 3month,

I rang bt few days ago because I decided to stay with them untill i solve my issues first(like 3month min contract,quarterly line rental,+£30 off charge etc),
the lady on the phone she told me she will remove £30 pounds off charge from my account so Im done with that,
but still, asking me to pay 3month line rentl in advance because I was defaulted to quarterly bill!!,i told her i want to pay monthly and and dont mind setting up direct debit as ur policy requires that for paying monthly !! she turned up saying im still have to ay full price for the currecnt bill which is produced on quarterly basis and includes line rental for next 3month !!!
when i requested for the service they didnt ask me for quarterly or monthly bill!
but i think i recived a letter which had quarterly status with my new phone number !!! should i slap my self because im raising issue late ?!!
they produced me bill just few days after that letter(which is the beggining of my service)!!! and they know that ive been raising some billing related issue all the times,!

what should i od? i decided not to take sh** anymore !!!
