Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I don't know if I am posting this in the right place, but here goes...
On Friday we found out that our bank account had been accessed by someone using our debit card (card not present as we still had it) and had been emptied including the overdraft.
We only found this out as we went to the shops and were reffered to the bank for £16. They established it was us and authorised it but this rang alarm bells with us so we checked our online account and found it had £2000 pending going out of it.
We phoned them immediately and they cancelled the card but said they couldn't stop it. After waiting all week, the money has finally gone out today, so the fraud department and the police can now get involved.
What we have found out today though, is that there is another £2000 pending on our account and while this money wasn't there to take they are saying that they authorised this also on the 13th as they hadn't updated their system from the original 2k so will have to let it go also!
What I want to know is, is this right as it wasn't even in one transaction, it was 6 altogether and I feel that the bank should have contacted us before authorising it.
