Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
My little company has a Bank of Scotland business account. For the most part payments into the account are made by BACS and I very rarely get cheques. In the past I've just posted them off but earlier this week I decided to call into a branch on my way to work to pay one in.
I went to the Bank of Scotland part of the Halifax website and used their branch finder to look up a branch on my way to work. Lo and behold several Halifax branches came up offering full Bank of Scotland business services including a relationship manager.
I chose to go to the one listed as at 311/313 High Holborn. Got there and found that the building had been demolished. In fact they seemed well on the way to relacing it. Fuming I went into work and decided to go to another branch at lunchtime. I got there to find that that they could offer the full range of Bank of Scotland business services except the ability to pay in a cheque!!!
I ended up having to go to the London HQ of BofS in Cockspur Street to pay in my cheque. I wish I'd used the post!
I was in a similar position recently when HBOS in their wisdom decided to restrict Cardcash account holders from having full counter facilities in branch. I think they must have retracted this because a few branches now have express pay-in machines that read your cheques, count your cash and credit your account in one fell swoop.
