Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I sent off for my statements a week ago and supprisingly... they've turned up already! I received a letter back saying:
"Further to your request for personal data held by Barclaycard, please find enclosed a copy of the relevant information from May 2003.
Statements held prior to May 2004 are stored on microfiche. Statements are copied onto the microfiche in date order and mroe than one customers statement may be held on an individual film of microfiche. These statements are not stored by reference to account number of customer name and are not "readily accessible" within the meaning of the Data Protection Act. These statements are therefore not retained in a relevant filing system and therefore do not fall within the class of documents to be produced pursuant to a Subject access request. They can be obtained from our customer services dept at a cost of £3 per statement".
Now where do I go from here? Prior to 2004 was when I was a little naughty with that card
No way!! Do not accept that as an answer from them!! You need to stress the fact that the information commisioner this week announced to Abbey Bank that microfiche was a revelant filing system! The bloody cheek...please dont pay this money to them...even though you can reclaim it, give Mr Townsend at Barclays Data Protection a call and tell him you are requesting a "total list of charges" and not statements , but if they want to provide the charges in statement form thats up to them but not your problem!
Ohhhh they make me cross!!
Let me know if you need any more clarification on this one!!
