Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Well hello everyone, I've been using this forum for a couple of weeks now and it has been so helpful that I can't thank you all enough. It was with this in mind I thought I'd start my first thread. Woolwich have charged me nearly £2000 in 5 years in charges so any portion of that I can gat back will be great, so I've sent my first letter requesting a list, which has come and my second letter left today so heres keeping my fingers crossed.
The whole situation came to a head when my branch failed to cancel 3 direct debits to which charges then occured. They admitted their mistake and said they'd rectify it to which I explained it would have to be done by a certain date so that my next direct debits went out. Needless to say they didn't and the account snowballed to it's current negative amount of nearly £1000, nearly all being bank charges. I begged them to sort things out, suspend the account, or just stop things happening but they just weren't interested and I just kept getting lip service. Eventually someone stopped it all but by this time it was far to late. I visited the branch who were incredibly unhelpful, in fact I've never met such a nasty piece of work as the manager the so that didn't help, apart from the fact that they told me that Woolwich had insisted that they weren't to help me. I know, unreal isn't it! He alsogave me some information that showed up the Woolwich helpline to be liars of the nth degree. You see on more than one occasion the helpline insisted it was the branches fault and that they would email them which makes sense until your told that there is absolutely no email facility between them and the branches so I was a bit annoyed to say the least when I heard that little ditty.
Anyway, I'm sure your bored now so I'll finish and let you all know how it goes in 14 days time. Thanks for reading (if you made it to the end).
I made it! Welcome to CAG!! Glad to hear you are doing something about it, it is sad to know this is happening every day and so many people still dont realise you can reclaim all this money!
If you havent already start a new post in the Woolwich forum and keep us updated as to how you get on
An Automated Letter Has Arrived
What a surprise and it says they will reply to my request to refund my charges nearly 2 weeks after the 14 day deadline finishes. Bit late that me thinks so by that time they will have another letter on their desks. Have fun ya'll
