Data Protection Act letter hand delivered today **WON**
Hello there
Handed DPA letter with great pleasure into my branch today. Told them it was a DPA request and as the cheque was enclosed they have 40 days from today to respond. Quite excited by all this, as could be in for quite a nice sum of money.
Already told loads of people about this site and can't wait to get into work tommorrow to let everyone there know as well. Share the wealth as they say.
Just one question though, I'm one of these credit card tarts who changes their cards every so often, have lost track of who I've had them with, do you think I should apply for my credit file and if so does it matter if I go with Experian or Equifax? Do they both hold the same info? And will it tell me when I've made late payments so I know which ones to claim against?
I thought they all held the same info but found out last week they don't , they hold different information .So it's well worth checking both as I have had to start getting one of my files corrected as it was SO wrong.
Hi Macca,
Just a quick tip on getting your credit history, I read on Martin Lewis money expert site that you can get it for free. You get a free 30 day trial by giving them C/C payment, get your details and then CANCEL trial.Good luck.
Still waiting for my DPA to comeback, but have just checked my online statements which go back 4 years and frankly I am incensed with how much I have paid lloydstsb in charges. I have 2 accounts with them and at the min it's totalling almost £1500. I'm getting itchy feet just hanging about waiting for another 30days for Lloyds to get in touch, should I start the process now and advise them of the total to date but advise that I intend to claim for the full 6 years once I've recieved the statements or should I just hanghire? Thought I'd read a similar question when I started this but can't find the thread.
It's quite an eye opener isn't it? Almost a stealth tax. You get incensed at the time when you see the charges, then resign yourself that that's the way it is. When you actually go back and see how much has gone over 6 years and realise how you could have used that money yourself it really concentrates your mind on the task ahead.
I now look back on it as a kind of savings plan which I've decided to cashed in.
OK, so decided to give Lloyds a ring to find out what's happened with DPA request, interestingly enough they said they could not find my request, I promptly put her right advising that they were having a laugh as I hand delivered it to a cashier at my local branch, she then got a bit snotty asking if I knew there was a £10 fee, told her that also was hand delivered in the form of a chq which hadn't been cashed, was told she would get my branch to ring me yesterday before 5pm, which no call was rec'd. But today I got a nice little message from my bank saying they were posting them out to me and to expect several letters from them as there was quite a bit of paperwork. Can't wait to get started now, have my letter all downloaded and ready to send.
Just one question tho, I'm on XP and don't have excel and the other version is telling me it will take over 5 hrs to download, I'm on dial up so not ideal, just wondered if there was any other way to work out the interest.
Got all my info from the bank, thought it was funny as rather than sending statements for first 5 years they have just sent a printout of charges and interest, obviously they know what we are doing now when we request this info. LOL.

Any ideas.

You won't need the spreadsheet until moneyclaim time, and hopefully Lloyds might have settled by then.
I think that all libraries now have broadband internet access. I'm not sure but you might be able to download open office at your local library and save it on to a pen-drive. Ask your local librarian, they're usually very helpful. Not sure what charges they make though.
Well got my bog standard response letter today from a Mr Chris Dunnett Assistant Manager. I suppose I just sit tight now and wait for my 14 days to elapse before sending letter before action.
The day after you file the claim they send the papers out. Lloyds will have 14 days to acknowledge the claim and another 14 days to submit their defence. If they fail to meet either of these dates you can aply for a judgement in your favour.
If Lloyds submit a defence you will be sent an alocation questionaire and have 14 days to send this back to the court who will then set a date.
I went into my internet banking last month and noticed that a dd had come out my account that day and left me over my od limit. It was about 11pm at night but I transferred money over from my other account with them and checked to make sure the transfer had gone through. Got a letter from them the next day advising over od which I just ignored as it said if I had brought my account within the level on the same day to ignore letter. Now I've recieved my statement advising of £30 charge and when I checked the statement, the date of transfer has "changed" to the following day. Have rang Lloyds and they say that the system updates every so often, so as it was late it must have updated itself after midnight and that's why it shows as the following day. Have advised them of what it states on their own website that "transfers between current accounts are effective immediately"! They say immediately doesn't necessarily mean straight away????
So will they cancel the £30 fee.................NO!!
I've told them that's fine if they wish to be a "jobsworth" and not use their own common sense and judgement on this occasion, as if I don't get it back now I will get it back later with 8% interest on top.
It makes me mad to think that they can get away with this.
hi all, i'm a newbie, can anyone help me im kinda stuck and you sound like u know what to do? i have sent one letter asking for bank charges / statements and then another asking for around £1600 back. they have replied saying no and telling me to consider stopping banking with them. i left them over a year ago. what do i do now? do i reply to the letter giving them longer or do i go straight to moneyclaim? help please im lost!!

I would think that this would greatly strengthen your hand if it cale to court. You have shown yourself to be reasonable and trying to settle the matter without wasting the court's time- Lloyds OTOH have been obstructive and profiteering. Did you record this phone call?
I was wrong, got another bog standard e-mail saying that if I'm still not happy to lodge a complaint with the financial Ombudsman service, suppose I sit tight and wait for my deadline to end before issuing moneyclaim.
