1st letter sent, have recieved standard letter back!
Morning all -
so far so good. I sent off my letter to Peter Townsend and have got what I believe is a standard letter back, saying that they are under no obligation to do anything I asked for, but they will send me copy statements free of charge 'on this occasion' (how very magnanimous of them...) It says I should recieve them within the next few weeks. (Stall, stall). I did also get my cheque returned.
So far so good then. One question - has anyone done this process twice? I was just wondering what happens if (playing devils advocate) over the next 6 years you get more fines??
Re: 1st letter sent, have recieved standard letter back!
Standard stuff, poor peter is snowed under from what I believe right now!!
Ok when you settle, the bank sometimes gets you to sign something saying that this is a final settlement against any future claims, some banks do this some don't - some will sign it some won't - depends on your negociating skills I suppose!!! Personally there is no way I would sign away my right to reclaiming in the future!
Re: 1st letter sent, have recieved standard letter back!
Muchos Gracias Olliebear,
hopefully Ill avoid all fines after this anyway, but its good to know what they have in store for me. Im just thinking that even if they did make you sign a statement saying that you would not claim again, that is surely only the same as the original agreement I signed years ago, and their fines would still be illegal regardless of what I sign.
Over the weekend I recieved my statements . Ive had the account about 6 years, so there were 3 full A4 envelopes. Im presuming that Ive now got to trawl through these looking for my dues. Ill start having a trawl through tonight .
Incidentally, a buddy of mine noticed that on the letter you get from the bank when you get a fine, there is a serial number which related to the type of letter being sent out, this is followed by a / and then another number. This second number is the number of times that that letter has been sent to you, so its a quick adhoc way of seeing how much you are due, in my case almost 700£!!
Now sending my second letter -address it to where?
Aloha all - Ive had my statements, Ive calculated my charges and Im looking to send my second letter off with an excell schedule of charges. I was going to send it to Pete townsend as he (or his minions) were so quick in getting the statements back to me. However, Ive seen at least one other address - is there a right or wrong one to send to for Barclays second letter???
