Default Worried about taking on barclaycard

    Hi there,

I'm writing here, fresh off the back of recieving a letter from HSBCicon bank offering to settle my claim for over £3000. So i am absolutely bouncing at the moment.

I kind of figure that perhaps after such a thiumpant victory, See thread http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk...so-starts.html i should move on and try my luck with Barclaycard.

Firstly, I managed my barclaycard account really badly, I mean really REALLY REALLY BADLY. there was a time when i didn't make a payment for about 6 months, this is obviously going to effect my claim against them.

They subsequently passed my account to mercers dept collection agency who i have been paying regularly for ages. I have had CCJ's and default notices against this account which i could really do with getting rid of.

What are my chances realistically of making a claim against them? Also, can they ask for all my outstanding balance to be paid off straight away?

If i stand any chance at all then i'll probably have to do the data protection letter as a doubt i'll have all my statement, i've no doubt got a few, but not all of them.

barcleycard seem to be the hardest nut to crack, so wish me luck, if a claim is at all possible.

    Cheers

its not a case of how ou managed your account but their penalty charges that have been applied to it.

if we dont pay then obviously we get interesticon charges, plus late payment penalties plus overlimit charges, once these start adding up and the interest is then added onto these the account snowballs and this is why its imperitive they should be brought to task

get back what should have been yours anyway and hopefully it would go some way to ridding yourself of the burden of barclaycard (and a few pints to boot all going well)

    Good Luck

    Well put G1bbo,

guess, i'm still sceptical despite my recent sucess with HSBCicon.

I would really like to get my money back from BC and to reverse the defaults they put on my account.

Well, guess there's no time like the present, i'm going to sort out my DPA letter today.

    Cheers gibs

Angry Re: Worried about taking on barclaycard

    Hi
Im hoping someone can help me re Barclay card. I requested my statements from Barclaycard originally on 9 June but they misplaced my letter including my cheque for £10, I then requested my statements again by post on the 9 August including another cheque for £10. I then received a letter on the 12 September stating they would refund me £120 as a GWG but I am unsure where they got this figure from. What has annoyed me more is that they cashed both my cheques on the 5 & 6 September for £10 & I havent received any statements. I corresponded on the 19 September asking about the figure of £120 & why I have not received my statements but have yet to have a response.

What should I do as the 40 days are well up.

    Thanks
    Nancies

well if that was me I would be writing a letter to as high as possible within barclaycard stating why was the letter not received when in fact they had cashed the cheque... blatant lies for a start off (and fraud to an extent)

if you have a letter as proof of this even better.

Then outline if they have cashed the cheque why no statements, where the hell does the £120 come from and then leave them dangling.. state they have had plenty of time etc etc

not sure on a legal standpoint but am sure a mod or similar will know better

Thanks for your advice G1BBO. My one concern is that they are not replying to my letters so writing another is delaying more time..

Angry Re: Worried about taking on barclaycard

I sent my Non Compliant letter to Barclaycard on the 19 October giving them 7 days before I Seek a court order and have not had a response but they are ringing me up to 6 times a day leaving messages to contact them. I am now afraid that they will default my account as I am making monthly payments but as I am now gone over my credit limit because of the charges, I dont know what to do as they seem to be ignoring my letters. Can someone please help.

    Hi

First of all i rang this number 0161 200 7476(date protection) I did this yesterday stated that they had 3 days left of the forty before i was taking them to court plus reporting them to the information commisioner.(They pulled everything what i sent to them on pc)

I received all my statements this morning.

I would pretty much do the same but in the mean time if the forty days are up i would complain to the information commisioner and send of an lbaicon.

With reference to your two £10 cheques i would check your statements as they have probably credited them to your account.

    Good Luck
