The office of fair trading report on 6th April 2006 did not give specific recommendation regarding the level of charges for current accounts. At presentthere has beenno consultation between the banking industry and the office of fair trading about current accounts. Should any industry wide consultation arise on this matter A&L will participate as appropriate. We feel our charges are reasonable and competitive compared to the industry and that they are clearly shown within our literature on our website, as well as being detailed onmonthly current account statements. I regret blah blah blah. What does this mean? Can i no longer persue them for wait for it £2,000 in charges in one year Please help

I have started a new threadicon for you Sharon as this was on the end of an old one. It is best to keep all you posts together about your claim in your own thread.

This is an absolutely standard fob off, but I think you should do some more reading before going any further. You need to understand the process fully before starting the very serious business of starting a court claim. Read more of the threads in here, including the successes forum, as well as ensuring you understand the FAQ's and step by step instructions. A & L are quite straight forward to claim from and don't seem to vary in their approach. Be warned though, they will close your account so have a parachute accounticon ready.

When the Liberals and Conservatives were in opposition they both agreed that banks should pay back high bank charges to customers. Nothing seems to of happened since they came into power as a coalition. PPI insurance has been sorted now they should turn their attention to bank charges and help customers get exorbitant charges refunded.

Hi, Sharon, welcome to the A&L forum.

Caro has given you the best advice possible, having a good read of the threads on here will give you insight into what to expect and (hopefully) the confidence to then go ahead with your own claim.

Do make sure you are well acquainted with the FAQs before you continue however, just so you are aware of what you are about to undertake!

Keep using this thread to keep us updated on your progress and to ask for advice or encouragement if you need it.

    Good Luck.
