Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Hi, requested my charges from MBNA 6th Sept, they sent a letter back saying sorry I was complaining (I wasn't at that point!) and that they would send me my charges shortly. They arrived yesterday along with a good will offer of £480!. Now I saw Greatwonders thread on here a few weeks ago and thought as soon as my letter arrives I'm going to phone Paul Miney up and ask for my money, as it seemed to work for him.
Just done that, he was extremely helpful and polite,I thanked him for the offer of £480 which I said I would accept as part payment but the total amount they had charged me was £1,157. I told him I wanted that amount and also could he work out the interest for me because I dont want to get it wrong when I fill out my court forms! (Just a little pressuring!) He said he would have to get my file and get back to me, he said that he would work out the COMPOUND interest and get back to me by 11.10 and hopefully resolve things for me.
Looking at some other threads this is when they called back with an offer of the full amount. So after just one letter sent a one phone call made can it really be this easy? Watch this space.
YES IT IS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!
Mr Miney just phoned me back and offered me £1,728.14 in Full and final settelment, cheque to arrive with 7 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Any good, tell everyone on this MBNA forum to do the same as me, Paul Miney is on 01244 - 672628. Couldn't come across a more helpful man. Obvioulsy said all the standard things about them not agreeing with the OFT etc but for the sake of customer relations wants to resolve these matters as quickly as possible. More banks should take note. Think how much MBNA have saved in solicitors fees compared to Lloyds and others!
Forgot to say , He told me they had calculated the compound interest at their standard charge of 17.9%!! So everyone forget working out the interest @ 8%, get MBNA to do it for you.
I have sent a letter requesting statements and received a letter back thanking me for the letter and a full response will be submitted to me by the 15th October. Is this the same kind of letter you received?
All I want is my statements, but if they are going to coome back with an offer instantly, all the better!!
Thanks Andrea

Sounds exactly the same, when your letter arrives, work out your charges and give them a call doing exactly the same as me, no reason you shouldn't get the same result.
Just spoke to some one called Colin Pugh at the same number 01244 672628,(after partial payment ) agreed to pay in full.Worked out my interest for me at 22.9 % !!
£400 more than I asked for  Waiting for money to be in account.donation to follow!! Off to pub
I got the same £160 cheque with my statements, haven't added up the charges yet but I almost feel like not bothering. I feel like thanking them for their refreshing approach when I put in the claim. they also said that the money had been left in my account for years.
Your solution sounds very similar to mine! DPA response way quicker than the Halifax (still waiting - wake me in 2045!!!), and with one phone call a settlement at approx £1800!!!
I've now spent days at work saying to people, "Yu got an MBNA account - ever had charges". It's becoming an obsession!

Hi all,
after sending my DPA letter off to MBNA for statements on 24/9/06 and reading the threads about how you were all ringing Mr Miney and getting a result, i thought i'd give it a go, ive just got off the phone from him and he appologised about how long it is taking to sort my case out but as i was with Abbey when i first started my acct then it transferred to mbna they have requested my statements from them but they havnt sent the statements to mbna yet(what a surprise !) but he will chase it up today and hopefully get back to me at the end of the week with an amount of how much my charges have added up to and will offer me a goodwill pay mt. When i asked him about the amount plus interest he said they will calculate it at my contract rate of 24.9%. But he did say that all figures were calcutated at contract rate unless a customer is asking for it tobe calculated at compound rate, in which case they may offer the difference. Fingers crossed that i get as good a result as some of you have. Ive actually had to transferr my balance to M&S on 0% intrest for 6mths so i can clear it, but if they pay up i can pay it all off with M&S in 1 go which will be a gret load off my mind. Heres hoping !!
