    Default MicktheMiller - v - Halifax

Well Here goes folks, my first post.

After stumbling upon this site a few weeks ago I've started the process to reclaim all the charges imposed by the Halifaxicon.

I stopped using my account with them around 3 years ago.

I have never been the best with money management but my decision to leave them was largely due to the charges being imposed, for direct debits etc which had been cancelled years before. The whole process was messy and I actually accepted paying the fees at the time as opposed to fighting for my money back which I knew was my right, but would also have been like having a poker shoved in my eye!

So here goes mr Halifax, bring me your best!!!

Hi - take a bit of time to read up first to make sure that you have the facts before going too far ahead. Read the FAQs and template letters then have a good read around here to see how others are getting on. Keep any progress on your own claim or questions that arise in a new threadicon in the forum for your bank to make it easier for others to follow and advise you. There's a set of links in my sig below that will help you find where all this useful information is. Well done for getting started!

    Update:

I received my statements on 10th October, so banged off the 1st letter straight away. I agree with other posters that it's a weird feeling reading about where you were 4 or 5 years ago and how much you was spending!

I totted up the amount of charges - almost 800 quid so that will be nice come christmas time! I have just come off the phone from a lady in the Birmingham office - Offering me £310 which I politely refused. So my letter before actionicon has been emailed today.

Incidently, I sent my 1st letter on the 10th recorded delivery - Royal Mail still don't know where it is so my email chaser yesterday seemed to do the trick.

Thanks to everyone on here for their stories and experiences!

Yep Royal Mail are in a bit of a mess regarding rec delivery at the moment, some vital part of the process is being missed out on many occasions, when you send yur lbaicon also send a letter from the templates section "rejection of offer" you can either incorporate it into your lba or send it under seperate cover. up to you!
