Last month my DD for the minimum payment to my Eggcard failed. I knew this was going to happen and paid the account by alternative means by the date due so the account was not in arrears. Egg still charged me £20 for the failed DD. I have sent them several secure messages about it. Their latest reply:
I now want to take this further but together with a previous charge of £20 this only amounts to £40. Will they take this seriously if I say I'm going to claim for such a small amount? The reason that we charge the £20.00 fee is due to the cost of administration, requesting the payment, having the payment returned and then re-instating the direct debitafterwards.
Therefore the charge that has been applied to your account is correct and justified.
