Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I wrote to Barclays on the 14th using the letter template from here.
I got two large envolopes today in the post, but they've taken the easier option of posting all my statements and I've been through about 1/4 of the first one and found approx £300 in DD return charges from when I was at University alone. Not exactly easy going trying to work out what is what though. There are all kinds of stuff coming out that just have numerical codes next to them. The only charges I can see that are really obvious are the ones that actually say 'returned DD @ 30' etc.
Can I call / write back to them asking them to summarise all the charges?
You can always try, but from the DPA point of view, they have complied. I don't understand what is so difficult though, Barclays statements are very clear and explicit. :-?
Numerical codes are likely to be when you made a card transaction, if I understand you rightly.
Apologies to people who I was in the process of helping, I may be gone some time.
I didn't say they're 'so difficult' but I did say there are two massive documents, and quite a lot of the transactions don't have descriptions, what they have sent me is a massive print out which is text based, split up by dotted lines.
Funnily enough, calling Barclays just now, they were uber, bend over backwards helpful. I suspect they're starting to wake up to people claiming back. As soon as I told him why I was calling his tone changed to super friendly, super helpful and said he would send it all out again clearly highlighting all the charges that had been made.
