Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Welcome! I can understand your nervousness, but it realy isn't warranted!
I panicked somewhat when I saw the size of these forums, but don’t be daunted!
The best thing you can do to get yourself started is read the FAQs at the following link. There you’ll find easy to understand tutorials (and I mean easy to understand – I understood them!!) on everything from what you can claim, and step by step instructions on how to begin the process.
It even includes links to a “template library” with sample letters that you can adapt when writing the bank. An hour or two studying these tutorials and you’ll be feeling a lot more confident and those nerves will fade away!
Then don’t be shy in asking questions – I haven’t, and the response has been fantastic.
I was going to say best of luck – but as you’ll come to realise, you’ve had all the luck you need in finding this site – the rest is just following the established procedures for recovering YOUR money.
All the best; I look forward to your updates!
If I've helped, please tick the scales at the bottom left of this message!

Today have received all my statements from the Natwest.
Just because Im totally paranoid about claiming the wrong thing, could someone please clarify to me that I can claim anything listed as a 'paid referral fee' 'Referal fee' 'charges prf', and 'unpaid items'. But I also have ones that are simply listed as 'charges' that started at £20.00 in 2004 , then increased to £28. Does anyone know if I can claim these or what they might have been for? Also am I right in thinking you cant claim the charges for an unarranged borrowing fee?
Sorry, so many questions, just want to get it right
Thank you, I did read the top bits of that thread, but didnt read down far enough. I see now that I can claim the unarranged borrowing fee back - back to my calculator.
Just one more question, then I promise no more tonight lol
I have 3 accounts with the Natwest, and was just going to start with my joint account. Am I better just doing all three at once, rather than seeing how it goes with one before pursuing the others?

It is up to you. Some have gone all at once some have waited to complete one before starting another. I think you should determine it on how you feel you want to proceed. Good Luck
Thanks, I think I might test the water with one account, Im worried that if I do all three and they decide to close all our accounts we'll be well and truly stuck!

Today have received a letter from Natwest saying they are looking into the issue and in the process of investigating. Theyve said they will contact me again shortly either with a full response or to let me know how they are progressing.
Am presuming that this is the standard response so will be sending my lba through on Monday.
Have also now requested statements for my sole account and my husbands sole account, in for a penny, in for a pound!

Today received second letter from Natwest, offering £371 as Full and final settlement. Have to admit this letter sounds quite scary! Wonder whether I should wait to put a claim in for my sole account for £675 and my husbands sole account for £715 or just do it now - anyone any thoughts?
Just going to read up on next step now!

Could I just ask for a some advice? Now that they've sent me a letter making an offer, do I still let the 14 days go, or presume thats their reply and start the court claim now? Also, do I acknowledge this offer letter, or ignore it and go to next step?
Be grateful if anyone could tell me?
Thanks

Can anyone help, I think Ive dropped a huge clanger! Ive just been going through my letters in preparation for doing the moneyclaim as its 14 days after lba tomorrow and Ive just realised in my LBA Ive put the figure that is the 8% interest, where it says 'overdraft interest for the sum of which you have taken'. How is likely to affect my chances, have I blown it now by messing up the LBA?

It's a mistake, but not critical. When you file at MCOL, claim for just the charges and then for the interest under the S69 clause.
MCOL is where it does get critical, since mistakes here can be costly in time and money, so don't rush, double check everything and ask if in doubt about anything.
