A couple of years ago I was having trouble paying the council tax. my sympathetic council employed Rossedales to collect the tax (about £500).
Over a period of months I paid off the majoity of the debt direct to the council untill I owed them less than £50. At this point rossendalesicon beseiged the house and refused to take their foot out of the front door until I paid them £256.08 I called the local police. The bailiffsicon refused to show me any I.D but showed this to the police who said it was OK who advised me to pay or they would allow the baillifs entry.
I paid and got a receipt which stated "£256.08 on behalf of **** council in respect of council tax"

Now obviously they deducted their fees before paying the council £38

Bearing in mind the way the receipt is phrased and the amount passed on to the council have I got a claim? If oso against who. the baillifs or their employer the council

any thoughts would be appreciated
