hi all, Ive recently started viewing posts and have registered today, I have a current account with Lloyds bank and am considering writing to them asking them to refund bank charges that I have been charged over the past 2 months... Although it is only £200 I still feel that it is alot for unpaid DD and SO. My query is this, I have an account whereby I have no overdraft limit at all, even tho I have tried to ask them for one several times they always state that I have to run my account good for 6 months- but their endless amount of charges mean that they are forcing me into a cycle of going into an un authorised over draft to which they charge me £35 a time, wherby i can never run my account "well" for 6 moinths!! even tho the few times the account has gone over drawn this has only ben no more than £20.... Although I undertstand i can claim back my silly charges for the un paid direct debits and the un paid standing orders but can i claim back charges where my account has gone into this "un authorised overdraft" whereby they charge me £35 a time... Thanks for your help in advance- hope the above makes sense?
Yes you can claim back the charges. You need to go to the Bank templates library and write a letter for your statements. This is called an S.A.R. (Subject access request). You have to put a cheque or a postal order in for £10 to cover the banks charge for issuing your statements. They can not charge you £5 per sheet like they sometimes try. When you get the statements back, look through everything and add up the charges.Overlimit fees, unpaid direct debit fees, unpaid standing order fees, are all claimable. Please read the threads over and over on this site. There is always someone around to help you.Don't forget to read the FAQ'S and the step by step instructions. You can claim back interest as well.
If you had a mortgage or Loan Penalty charge or ERC,some people are claiming those back as well.
Hope this helps.
