hi there everyone, i have just decided after finding this site through moneysavingexpert.com that i am going to try and reclaim all of the money that the Halifax has taken off me! All of this came to a head the other day when i had bills taken out, pushing me into my unauthorised OD, a few days before i got paid....the sum of money they took off me? £120 over 2-3days! this has messed me up now as my current paycheque is not going far at all!
so i firstly wanted to ask a few questions as you lot seem very knowledgable and i am very nervous:
1) What are the Halifax bank like to claim against?
2)What are the chances of them takin my overdraft facility off me?
3)roughly how long does the procedure take with them?
Any help or advice would be very much appreciated.
1) What are the Halifax bank like to claim against?
Although most banks are the same, I think it's fair to say that the Halifax have been one of the less obstructive. They generally comply with requests for a list of charges under the DPA and they tend to pay out some where between court action and the time for filling a defence.

It's possible. That's about as much as we can say. They have tended not to react in this way, but you should be prepared for any eventuality.

This depends on a few factors. If you need a list of charges (usually in the form of copy statements) then it might take a few weeks for that, plus about 2 months in total from the start of a claim.
The best thing you can do is read through our FAQ section in full. Some of the most important parts are shown in my signature below.
Best of luck
