If you have been successful in your claim with HSBCicon but the thread title doesn't show **WON** or **SETTLED** can you please send a private message to one of the mods to change the title and put it in the successes sub-forum.

This will give other users an at-a-glance guide to other cases that have been won and may just give them that extra little bit of confidence needed to pursue HSBC themselves.

If you can't PM a mod for whatever reason then just reply to this thread.

Hi, I started my mission back in July. What really helped move things along was using my online banking messaging facilities. I guess the 'agents' dont like open tickets, but who knows. But the good newsicon is that after going for 1160 in charges over the last 6 yearsicon I got a letter offering 1026. which I have taken. Thanks for your help and good luck everyone else, all the best Wayne

Sent 1st letter to Leeds Service centre on 2nd January 14 Days up yesterday
when i got home there was a nice letter from Mr Langdale making an offer
    i claimed £2200 (+600 interesticon) and got back £1890 (roughly 85%).

Got put through to own branch today (first time in years) to ask how it is made up and was told

    a) it is not shown on your banking record (although may do when they receive your accpetance)
b)They have had to set up a seperate office and team in Leeds to cope with all the claims.

Nice to know that this site has helped reduce unemployment

    A very happy customer

P.s from latest offers posted from HSBCicon seems around 85% of amount claimed is what they are offering

I received an offer of £4,400 (which includes interesticon and £120 court costs, though not moneyclaim online charge) and after they minused £82.50 which they claim were outside the 6 year limitation period for bringing claims. It may be outside now but cetainly wasn't when I brought my claim to their attention last year.

I may accept their poor calculation, but not sure I should...

I guess I will also have to submit a new claim for all illegal charges since the claim period ended.

Have just had £2,824.69 returned to my account. Started claim 18th October, they did not even answer 1st letter, 2nd one sent, no reply, started small claimicon action, they defended it, wrote to me via solicitor, I filled in another form to go to court and recieved letter from solicitor to say 'they were making an ex-gratia payment, but were not admitting liabilty'. The above amount included interesticon at 8%, so I recieved more back than they had taken! result

    Smile Re: Successful Claims

    Bank: HSBCicon
Charges claimed : £325 (i didnt bother with interest)
Charges received: £350 (as between sending letter and response another charge came through)

Yippie victory and surprisingly easily. Luckily I didnt have to get my statements as i had them all. So it was sending the claims letter from this site (23rd Jan 07). Within days a reply that they were looking into it. Should have had a reply last Friday but gave them some time. And this morning I received the message that they would refund my charges. Just have to sign a form, send it back and get paid :j

Only one missing is prepaid envelop or respond address LOL

The only interesting quote is in there first paragraph.

"In circumstances where you have authorised a payment that would, if met by us, lead to your account going overdrawn or over an agreed overdrafticon limit, we have to consider whether to make this payment. A fee is payable for this service provided by the bank, details of which are set out in our published price list. The circumstances in which the fee will apply are set out in our Personal Banking terms and conditionsicon that you were provided with a copy of when you opened your account. If you claim for a refund proceeded to Court, we therefore believe we would successfully resist any legal challenge in relation to these fees."

However because I only claim a small amount they guess its better to pay than go to court. :rotfl:

    Hi

I started claiming against HSBCicon on 19th January - received a letter today saying they would offer £626 (as someone else said that's about 85% of the total claimed). I'm quite happy to accept that so sent the form off today.

However, a few days ago I received a seperate letter, seemingly from my branch, that just said they wanted to contact me about a 'Financial Review" - when I rang the 0845 number they didn't know what I was talking about and couldn't help, but now I'm worried they're going to close my account. Is this likely? Has it happened to anyone else? I do have a £1500 overdrafticon so maybe they want me to get rid of that.

    Any advice welcomed!
