Hi i wondering if anyone knows how the different grades of whiplash are well graded? Say mild, moderate and severe. What symptoms/time scale would come under mild etc? Hopeful someone has some medical training on here lol :)

Never heard of grading for whiplash=but thats not to suggest there are none.

Can you say why you are asking ?

Just curious :) Wondering how its all diagnoised, i would think the symptoms would have to go into catogories (sp) as someone's mild whiplash pain could be another's moderate, depending on how well each person copes with the pain. I just wondered how doctors came to the conclusion as to which section each persons whiplash came under?

Whiplash to the neck?

The JSB say minor neck injuries lasting between a few weeks and a year should be around £875 to £2,850.

There are also moderate and severe but "whiplash" rarely falls into these categories.

I heard average payout for whiplash was 2 grand.

Ken Clarke has recently said that the procedures need to be changed for whiplash and that there should be a burden of proof.

I remember a taxi driver compaining to me a couple of years ago about his insurance premiums.

He told that it was in consideration of whiplash claims and that they started at 2k.

That's just made up. Whiplash claims don't "start" at £2k.

Compensation is based on how long the injury lasts for and each case is different.

Don't believe all the 'pub talk' about how much people do or don't get.

I was ran into in June in my 6 month old mini cooper. At the time I was 30 weeks pregnant and ended up in hospital. Little **** never even came over to say sorry. Needless to say it cost his insurers £12k to repair my car 6 weeks hire car charges. And the personal injury came out at £1400 if I didn't go to the medical (which was booked for 4 weeks later). So compensation can clearly vary

It wasnt pub talk it was confirmed by a firm specialising in taxi insurance also-who said 2k was a typical average payout.

Fair enough, perhaps they found it was an average payout but by no means is £2k the starting point.
