Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Three weeks I sent the first letter to the Halifax which they sent two holding letters in reply, yesterday they rang to offer £174 and spoke to my wife who accepted the offer. I had asked for £250 but she had forgotten this was the amount.
Anyway they sent a letter which arrived today which we signed formally accepting their offer.
So it wasn't the amount we wanted but we are £174 better off than we were three weeks ago for writing a letter. I thanks the Consumer Action Group for their assistance and will make a contribution to their funds.
If you are happy with the amount then accept it. It's up to each person to decide what they believe is acceptable...
Just a word of caution though - make sure that the letter you are signing does not waive your rights to claim again. This is a tactic being used by some banks, so have a good read and make sure you understand the implications of accepting.
If all is OK - don't forget the book fund - anything you might wish to offer the site would be very much appreciated, I'm sure
