hi all,was just wondering if anyone could help me out with a bit of info, had my vw r32 stolen on 4th july, long story short the insurance company sent me an email saying they have decided to settle the claim on a total loss basis, they offered me 7k which i turned down as it was impossible for me to replace the car with that money, had reciept for the 8k i paid for it and finaly got them to increase there offer to 7.7k.i accepted this offer and it says on the email that the cheque will follow shortly.I phoned them this morning to see where cheque was as they said i should recieve it by the end of the week and they said they cant release payment as the claim is still under review, what does this mean,i got a horrible feeling that this is an excuse to try and find anything to get out of the claim, can they back out of a claim after they have agreed to settle and i have accepted a price or is it just protocall that they have to wait so long before sending cheque, any info please.thanks

Don't understand. Either they have settled the claim and are posting a cheque or they have put a stop on the cheque being sent for whatever reason. If they have stopped the cheque and the claim is under review you need to ask why. Perhaps they found outstanding finance on the car and the cheque or part thereof needs to go to the finance company ?

Suggest that you give them a call. Sometimes what happens with Insurance companies these days, is the claims helpline is in India or is separate from those dealing with the claim and they are just looking at difficult to understand information on a screen. Rather than make enquiries with the claims handlers they are just giving out information that neither them or the customer is clear about.

We could do with some help from you.

just got off the phone, the bloke i spoke to was very helpful,if only id have spoke to him in the first place it would have saved a lot of stress,he said there's nothing to worry about payment due to go out monday, they just have to wait a certain amount of time and send questions to previous owner, regardless of weather or not they hear anything from him they are going to send the cheque monday.cheers for help guys.
