Hello! I hope somebody can help me here. I found out that I have had a dual insured content insurance with Halifax and theAA for 3 years. Halifax was so kind to send me the dual insurance form which I forqwarded to teh AA. They returned it with missing information and after I sorted that, the AA tolds me that because of a claim I had in 2009 they will not pay the 50% for that year! I was wondering if this is notrmal as I do not think so. Also I was wondering if I can do anything about the fact that Halifax has 'sold' me teh insurance as part of a shared owbwership mortgage? is that 50% correct? Any help would be appreciated!

Yes they are correct. If they have paid a claim, they are entitled to 100% of the premium paid for that year and will refund 50% for the other years where a claim had not been made. The Insurers of the policy without the claim in 2009, may refund 100% of the premium for the relevant year, on the basis that they would not wish to share the claim with the other Insurers.

This is about Contents Insurance, so the shared ownership is not relevant.

We could do with some help from you.
