Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
A while back, Halifax sent a debit card of mine to a wrong address and with the pin number. I waited for 2 weeks because i thought it was taking them a while to send me my card. However, they had actually sent it to an address 200 miles away - no idea now.
I rang up and cancelled the card as soon as i found out and ordered a replacement.
The replacement never arrived at my house. I called them up and discovered that the card 200 miles away hadn't even been cancelled and no new card had been sent. Presumably, this house 200 miles away also recieved credit card statements of mine.
I then wrote a letter explaining all of this to complaints.
Basically, all they did was reply saying sorry and ordered a new card for me. Is this good enough?
Re: halifax - breech of my data protection rights?
Almost the same has happened to me but with my full SAR going somewhere it shouldn't. This is illegal and a serious breech of what they should be doing. Yes you can complain to Financial Services Authority about this. Good Luck
