I am slightly shocked today in fact stunned.

Old Tawny after over 40 years of working, with only a few breaks found myself looking for work.

CVs etc and mastery of IT etc and computerised whatever. Tills now that are no longer like Arkwrights on open all hours.

I applied and after one day flat was emailed, that wonderful new way of communication.

Turned down flat. I am not saying what job but thought I could do it.

I thought being so many jobs around, so they in power say I was on a definite thing.

I must admit tonight is a right old downer.

Seems a security course it seems so I am told by those wise ones is the way for me to go by those that know.

Dodgy heart etc, best to not say about that. Who will take me on afterwards. Perhaps the oldest security guard at Mothercare perhaps.

Apologies for going off topic but am lost in a world of modernisation it seems.

Sadly you are not alone TO. I suspect you were rather fortunate in that you were advised at all that your application was unsuccessful. We are seeing many people say they apply for 100's if not 1000's of jobs and are just totally ignored !

It is very strange that the retirement age is being extended, lots of mature employees are being made redundant - despite their skills their only options appear to be B&Q or Security work !

'Members of the Armed Forces will be given their own credit union to stop them falling prey to payday lenders.

The Treasury is to hand over £500,000 from Libor fines - penalties charged to firms rigging the markets - to kickstart the scheme.

It will allow service personnel and veterans in debt to loan sharks and pay day lenders to pay off the money through payroll or pension deductions via a credit union..........'

Philip and Victoria Sherlock borrowed £830 from lenders to cover their rent after he fell ill and had to give up his physically demanding job. But the sky-high interest rates saw their debts rocket and they couldn't pay their rent, so they were evicted last month. The distraught pair now live in their Ford Focus which they park on an industrial estate -and even spent their 9th wedding anniversary sharing a Twix in the car.

'The popularity of payday loans is on the wane in the North West according to new research by R3, the trade body for insolvency practitioners.......The figures come a week after payday lender Wonga reported a loss of £37.3m for 2014 and predicted more losses in 2015. They are also in line with figures from the Consumer Finance Association, the body which represents payday lenders, which says that the number of loans approved has shrunk by 75 per cent from its peak in 2013.'

Great news, but hoe many of the closed companies will resurface as other companies in this market - although with the general public becoming more aware (hopefully) of the trap you can fall in using these companies it will mean less people ending up with multiple lenders.

Wonga aims for reinvention in new payday lending ad

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-32778204

Just noticed the link two posts back does not work.My fault will pop it back on.

Hundreds of payday loan shops closing down after ban on rip-off interest rates

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/hundreds-payday-loan-shops-closing-5709191

So Wonga start TV advertising again without the puppets.

Cutbacks i suppose or severe woodworm.

Showing quite clearly the people they are now targeting.from farmers to dental nurses.

The lender estimates there are 13 million people in the UK who are struggling with money and are turned down by mainstream lenders. This also includes people who are new to the credit market, such as those moving into the country.

It said adverts would not be shown on children's TV, or channels or programmes with a large audience among younger people. Billboards within 50m of a school or college would also not be used for poster adverts.

Is that 50 metres or 50 miles.

TV advertising had better not be on during Emmerdale or Coronation street or old Tawnyowl will be switching over during breaks and missing all the adverts.Which i enjoy so much.

Is there a trust issue with this company.

No we believe everything you say.We will forget everything previously done.No worries at all.

I was going to write a list but it will take up to much space and put you to sleep.

Become clean cut boys then launch on the stock market make a few quid perhaps.

Billion at one time i heard,i will give you a fiver and close it down.Only joking.Tenner a fiver for bus home.

Now to all the dodgy legal loan sharks who have already headed for the hills or to their mansions or exotic locations thinking it was good while it lasted and are thinking of your next venture.

I just hope you can be tracked down and made to pay back what you have ripped off the people and communities of Great Britain for years. And the dodgy Payday Loan brokers who have had a right old result over the years.

Will it happen who knows but if it did the money would go back and probably be spent in local businesses instead of packed up and shipped or jetted out of town never to be seen again.

Now old Tawnyowl is back in Business Arts and Crafty kind of thing so must get back to my workhouse.

Carving works of art out of driftwood collected from my local beach over 2 winters.

Keep coming up with sharks, can not imagine why.

Till the next instalment which will not be long i bid you a good afternoon wherever you may be.

Tawnyowl.

Hi citizenB

I hope so just getting going first piece a whale moving on to a shark next.Mind is full of ideas it is just letting them free.

And believe me the beaches in Winter are harsh desolate places and driftwood is hard to find and takes hours of searching for with howling gales and blowing sand but is enjoyable all the same.So genuine driftwood art is worth paying something for.As are all genuine crafts.

Some interesting posts from Ford and Sillygirl1 keep them coming. This business with the legal loan sharks is not over just starting a new chapter.

Many of the smaller lenders have headed for the hills with seemingly no posse chasing them to make them pay back what to me anyway seems ill gotten gains.

Leaving a few bigger lenders like the

predators they are chasing what for them could be juicy leftovers.A bigger market.

Say 3 year loans as well as the shorter loans to the middle class say some of you out there who may be struggling but are just scraping by paying the mortgage food gas electric etc and left with only a few quid each month.

You are going to be the new targets.Clearly.Remember the subprimers like that but on a smaller scale.

Smaller loans 1k 3k 5k which may lead for the new targets charging orders even repossesions long term. And who cares just as many of the subprime victims all will be forgotten in the mists of time Vultures.I will put a saying on I once wrote because

I am convinced this is the way they are going.I hope many in a year or two will not be thinking like this old saying of mine

Think of a man and woman struggling in a desert.Half a mile away is a oasis.A stranger offers them a drink, gratefully they accept it not knowing that the water was contaminated and would make them ill. Many of us were like that couple struggling but probably would have reached that oasis without that strangers contaminated product. They target us at our weakest and offer us contamination. I look around the world and see many people who were in that desert struggling but may have reached the oasis unaided. But the stranger will vanish when you want to return the favour.

Could you ever trust again a legal loan shark and their toxic products.

Worth even thinking about.

'The number of complaints about payday loans has nearly halved over the last year, according to the Citizens Advice charity. It said the drop was as a result of new rules introduced by the regulator, the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). The FCA tightened the regulations in April 2014, and introduced a cap on payday loan charges in January 2015. Between January and March 2014, before the changes, Citizens Advice received 10,155 complaints about lenders. In the same period a year later, the number fell to 5,554 - a drop of 45%....."The drop in the number of problems reported to us about payday loans is good news for consumers," said Citizens Advice chief executive, Gillian Guy. "It demonstrates the impact a strong stance against irresponsible lending can have on people's lives..."

'Grimsby's Citizen Advice Bureau, Moneyline UK and the Credit Union have teamed up to raise awareness of the costs associated with opting for quick cash online as part of an Ethical Lending Drive....'

http://www.grimsbytelegraph.co.uk/Big-initiative-highlight-perils-payday-loans/story-26886464-detail/story.html

It is these factors which have prompted the CAB, Moneyline UK and the Credit Union to reiterate their stance on online payday lenders and notorious loan sharks.

Moneyline UK, which has offices at 238 Freeman Street, Grimsby, is a not-for-profit lender which offers "fair and flexible loans" which don't include any hidden costs.

Manager Ross Blackwood said the purpose of the Ethical Lending Drive is to raise awareness of the services and options available to people right on their doorstep.

"Moneyline UK is a Community Development Finance Institution, which means it is a not-for-profit lender looking to help bring financial inclusion to the community through affordable avenues of credit" he said.

"We want to raise awareness of who we are, where we are and what we do, so that people can make informed decisions when they might need access to credit.

'Guarantor loans are saddling friends and relatives with "mountains of debt" and are potentially just as damaging as payday loans, a charity has warned. Citizens Advice said those put forward as a guarantor on behalf of a borrower were unknowingly signing up to guarantee expensive loan repayments, and being pursued in the case of default or arrears. The charity's report, A Problem Shared, said 43% of guarantors who sought help from Citizens Advice were unsure of the extent of their responsibilities..........'
