My sons mobile was accidentaly damaged on 15th April, he went into the shop and they said it was irrepairable. He didn't have enough money to pay the excess at the time until today. He rang up O2 and they said it was too late to claim on the insurance. Is this correct?

Mobile phone insurance usually has a nasty "claims must be reported in 24 hours" clause.

Challenge this on the basis that their position has not been prejudiced by reporting this late. If they think it has, ask them to explain why?
