Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Hi, just wanted to know if anyone has an opinion or experience of this. I parked in the disabled section of Asda's car park. It was a Sunday and although there wasn't a lot of regular parking spaces, there were several free disabled spaces.
Now, I wouldn't usually do this but I had just been up town and had my purse pick-pocketed which contained £150 (all the money I had apart from less than £2 in small change in my pocket) and I was in a state of shock basically. I stopped at Asda because I went to buy some tablets with the money I had, as the shock had given me a thumping headache. When I came out and saw a ticket I swore a bit then burst into tears!
I didn't see anyone who remotely looked like a traffic warden on that occasion, before or since, so I don't actually know who warrants the tickets.
I just ignored it but have had 2 follow-up letters and the fine has grown from £35-50.
Is there anything I can do about this and are car park tickets as 'legal' as normal tickets? I did have a crime number but with recent decorating I'm not sure if it's been mislaid or accidentally thrown away.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Tracie
All Asda Car parks are looked after by NCH etc. unfortunatly as far as I know it is verging on illegal to park in a disabled space and Asda are very serious about enforcing these rules.
Did you complain to the manager at the time? If so did you get any names etc?
If you let me know which store, time date etc either via this thread or PM I will see what I can do for you as I am in a position that i may be able to influence this for you,

Dear Miss P,
Thank you for replying to me. I have managed to find the original letter, but not my crime ref number but maybe I can contact the police for that?

I didn't contact the manager at the time, I was really upset and just wanted to get home with my little boy.
I would really appreciate any help you could give me. Thank you for your offer.
With all due respect I have a disabled daughter and we can never find a disabled space when we need one because there is always some BMW or 4x4 parked in that space.I do understand you parked there because you were stressed and there was no other spaces but at the end of the day you knew it was disabled space and you parked there anyway then used an excuse the same as everyone else. sorry to be blunt but pay your fine and respect that someone else may need that space more than you.
goodness me its about time these supermarkets relized that the peaple that park on there carparks are custormers ,do you shop there every week if you do, pay the fine of £50 and then take great plesure in telling the manager that becouse of there atitude that you will never shop at asda again but befor you do work out the money that you would have spent there lets say over the next 10 years ,week in week out and then watch is face ,it will be a small comfort to see it drop, infact if you have freinds that shop there and they come along with you and they do the same he will proberly faint cos all these peaple care about is there proffit .good luck
I have to say that the disabled spaces are created with extra space at the side of a vehicle to enable a wheelchair to be put alongside the door to transfer out of the car. It is so frustrating to drive round and round a carpark with nowhere to get my husband out of the car when all the disabled spaces have been taken. Before I met my husband 3 years ago, I used to often park in a disabled space without a second thought, but when you have no other choice it is a different matter.

Regardless of the excuse (a headache is really a poor excuse-didn't affect your driving to Asda did it?) You shouldn't have parked there. End of story - WELL DONE ASDA
Why does it matter if you have a crime reference number? Why does it matter if you were stressed? Why does it matter if you only went in to buy some tablets?
Disabled spaces are there for, believe it or not, disabled people - who don't have a choice where they park because they can't use regular spaces.
Having your purse stolen does not make you disabled.
Pay the fine.

yes they are for disabled peaple but have you seen the so called disabled peaple when they get out of there cars most of them could give seb coe a run for is money most of them are playing the systom, i broke my leg rather badly 4 years a go since then i cant walk very well do you see me cying for a disabled sticker no you do not i have for to much pride to do that , its a pity some of them aint the same what a load of blubbers ,o yes they can use regular spaces they just choose not to a little excicise did not hurt anyone in fact if there is somthing wring with them it might do them good un less they did not have any legs .infact thats the only time they would have a disabled sticker make the rest walk it would do them good they dont have to walk fast they can take there time then we could all be treated the same
Are you qualified to assess a person's disabilities? I would guess not as if you were you would know that a disability does not have to be visible to make somebody disabled.
As you don't appear to know what you are talking about I would ask you to refrain from posting such nonsense.

as i said most of them could give seb coe a run for is money ,where have you been all your life, come to my area and see the so caled disabled persons mybe you would see what i mean. mybe they have heart condition THEY CAN STILL WALK .mybe they are blind THEY CAN STILL WALK .mybe they have a mental condtoin THEY CAN STILL WALK, mybe they are old THEY CAN WALK MYBE A BIT SLOWER THAN THE REST OF US BUT THEY CAN WALK .you help your self in this life .but then again i forgot we are a natain of spongers
What does the fact that they can walk have to do with anything?
What a load of nonsense.
End of discussion.
