Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I've begun my relaim journey and got in touch with the guy who runs my local Barclays branch. He said he could only trace my charges back three years which total £1300. I think my next step should be to request the S.A.R - (Subject access request) although my local branch manager told me that I could just quote that figure £1300 and that it wouldn't be worth requesting the S.A.R - (Subject access request) as they already have the information on their system for the last six years. Do you think I should begin straight away with the preliminary letter as they already have the information on system or send the SAR letter.
Am I right in thinking that I can just use exactly what is on your template for all the letters I will be sending, of course ammending addresses, account number etc.
I would definitely send off the S.A.R - (Subject access request) asap. You need to know exactly how much they have taken in the last 6 years in order to formulate your claim correctly. Once you have all the figures, you can send off the preliminary letter, and take it from there.
The templates are the best way forward; you just alter the text to suit your own circumstances
