Wonder if someone can clear some things up for me! I've heard a lot of noise recently concerning banking practices regarding charges. I have been charges a total of £135 in the last month alone for 3 returned d/d's and 1 overdraft excess fee. Admittedly, the account was in arrears with insufficient funds to cover the costs of the direct debits and was indeed over it's agree limit of £100.
However, I find approx. £140 in charges a little steep and wondered if there was anything that could be done to get the monies bank given the OFT's recent annoucement that charges should only be made to the amount that the bank itself has suffered as a direct result of the account misues.
Yes, these charges can be reclaimed. Please spend some time reading through the FAQs - you will find a lot of important information including a step-by-step guide.
Good luck!
