Default advice needed on parachute accounts

This is one important lesson for new claimants to learn - MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A parachute accounticon BEFORE YOU JUMP!
    Please advise on the following:

    1. you open another account. alliance and leceister then close yours because you claimed bank charges. what's happens to the direct debits? do the parachuteicon bank just contact a&l for details. can a&l refuse to provide them?
    2. if you are overdrawn this is repayable immediately on demand - do you have to go to bank with cash to pay if they close your account? - what if you don't have the money? should you send them cheque to clear overdrafticon before taking legal action if all banking done on line and you can't deposit cash over counter?
    3. will a&l never allow you to be one of the customers again if they close your account. say they close it and 6 months later have an excellent deal which you wish to apply for will they automatically exclude you?

    1. If you "switch" accounts they will auto transfer all your D/D's you can ask them to do this when you apply for the account. If not you will just need to call all the people you have D/D's with and ask them to act on your new banks account number.
    2. Not sure with A&L but im sure i read in the Banking Codeicon that they MUST give you 30days notice if they are going to close an account. If you owe money on the account you can use a free debt management company to pay it back. Free debt managementicon company | Payplan is a good one and they will work out what you can afford as under the Consumer Credit Act 1974 they cannot ask you to pay back more than what you can afford.
    3. I don't know about that one. sorry.

My advice is only my opinion, I am not a legal expert.

3 sorry i dont know either, but i would think that after 2yrs going by the 'fiche argument they would 'forget' that you have been a bad boy and give you another account, being that they have no 'recent' records to check on lol.

It'll be worth a try eh?

    I QUESTION THEREFORE I AM!!

Unfortunately i'm not an expert in any given field legally and my advice and that of the Consumer Action Group and the Bank Action Group is given without prejudice and without liability so please if in any doubt whatsoever seek help from an insured qualified professional. Contents of my posts are purely my own personal opinions and not condoned or endorsed in any way, shape or form by CAG. Thank you!
