Our house is situated next to a water pumping station. This was designed to take 12 homes. For the first few years there were no problems but subsequently the amount of homes connected quadrupled and despite our objections to the planning applications the development went ahead. The original engineer confirmed that the pumping station could not cope with the increased amount of homes connected. This we have found to our detriment to be true - the sewage continues to back up - the pump continually fails and we continually have to phone the authorities to come and sort it out. To cut a long story short this week the smell in our home became obnoxious - our eyes were streaming, we were feeling nauseous and we were preparing to move into a hotel. However, the water authority arrived to repair the pump and the smell soon subsided.

We should not have to put up with this but the authorities will not listen and just continue to repair equipment that is just not adequate for the job it is supposed to do.

We just cannot stand it any longer - our health is suffering and if we wanted to sell our home we would find it very difficult to do so given the current problems.

We are not connected into the system but apparently there is an overflow on our property. We have owned our home for over 25 years and the problems only started when the extra homes were added onto the system.
