Thread: Show Me Da Money

Hi guys I wrote 1st letter to Woolwich and they ackn. receipt of it as of 22August saying that they would endeavour to reply by 20th Sept.
If I have receeived nothing by then, I will send them a polite reminder that they have a further 10 days to respond with the information i requested under the Data Protection Act.
I believe that I then have to examine the info they have sent me and tot up what they owe me for charges over the last 6 years.

Can anyone advise where I find the spreadsheet to help me caclulate what I should be claiming, and best place to find template for the letter requesting that they pay me back £xxx

The Woolwich will likely get your statements out to you within thier timeframe, if not then a letter won't hurt. This is a link to the prelim letter: PRELIM

Well I've won my first claim today - but its only enough to get me to the white cliffs of dover and back!

i wonder if there will be any blue birds there?

Have received today from the Woolwich details of charges going back 6 years. Quite pleased that they replied so quick - I wrote to them 25 days ago.
If I add up charges for RETURNED CHEQUES, UNPAID DIRECT DEBITS, DEBIT INTEREST and AUTHORISED overdraft USEAGE FEES it amounts to £614.77

I take it I can claim back all of the above????

What is the liklihood of them closing my account without any kind of warning period? I really could not be assed having the hassle of setting up another current account somewhere.

It is quite unlikely that the Woolwich will close your account, but be on the safe side. Returned chqs, Unpaid DD's are fine to claim back, but Authorised usage fee I *think* they are allowed to charge for. Interest is a completely different kettle of fish! and i'm not clear enough on debit interest to help

As for working out the amount of interest that was charged as a result of their unlawful charges - can you gimme any pointers how I would go about that ?

This is just my advice. Alot of people don't bother with contractual interest - which is what you are refering to, and to be honest its very hard to work out. Try vampiress's advanced spreadsheet in the FAQ's. Personally I am sticking to adding DPA interest at 8% at MCOL stage as its easier. It depends on your circumstances but it can be less, around the same or even more. Its your call!!!

Is MCOL stage whenever they are dragging their heels so you keep adding the interst on at 8% ?

I was thinking of claimimg £322 and stressing that I expect full + final settlement pointing out to them that I have not included any interest in my calculations therefore will not accept anyhing less than the £322 . As you say it's very difficult to work out the interest, even though by rights, they do owe us it back

MCOL moneyclaimonline, starting litigation with your bank (way of not having to traipse down to your local court) you only add 8% interest at this stage.

The letters in the templates will assure you 'say' the right things.

I could go on all day, but there is too much to say - i'll be back with some links for you! but you really need to read alot of Barclays threads and more FAQ's no offence - but it will be invaluable to you!!

I dont know whether you have seen this or not, but just in case it really helps to understand the process! STEP BY STEP.

Received a reply from Woolwich 22 Sept to say 'We have taken responsibility for fully investigating the issues you have raised, and we aim to resolve this matter by 20 Oct 06'.

Standard gubbins! not satisfactory at all. Send in your lba when 14 days have elapsed!! Stick to your timetable not thiers!!
