Unhappy Charges for going over my overdraft limit

Hi there, I am a full time student and I find it a struggle to keep the cost down now and then. I have gone over my overdrafticon limit and my bank, "Barclaysicon" have charged me £15 in doing this? I don't understand the concept in not having money, why charge you for it? It doesn't make sense and I wanted to know if what Barclays are doing is correct/legal? It's also a student account so surely they should be a little more understanding towards my needs? Please could you tell me how I can claim my money back, and what letter I should have that would be suited for this problem I have. :-?

    Regards Alice Campbell

    hi there,

if the bank has charged you for going overdrawn then you can claim it back.

and the banks DONT CARE about you being a student! it is a buisness and thats it. there are single parents with NO money and cant afford to buy their shopping and they dont care about them either!

you can claim bank charges back up to 6 yearsicon.

and as you can see by the thousands of members that everyone at some point has had charges applied to them that are unfair. that is why we are all claiming to get them back.

firstly you need to look here http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/faq.php there is lots of info to take in. YOU DO NEED TO READ IT THOUGH. AS WE CANT CLAIM THE MONEY BACK FOR YOU. YOU HAVE TO DO IT YOURSELF!!

when you have read through the faqs you need to find out how much they have charged you. and if you dont know then you will need to apply for your statements by sending this letter
    http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk...t-subject.html

    take it from there.

we are all here to help you as i said above but we cant do it for you!

    good luck lisax

if i have helped you at all click please the scales on top right!
