Right, the great personal debt clean up operation continues.

I have two outstanding accounts for previous council tax bills now being dealt with by Swift Credit Services ltd.

I have received a letter stating a liability order has been issued and their enforcement team WILL NOW ATTEND YOUR HOME (one assumed they put it in caps to attempt to scare the jam out of you).

Failure to respond to the letter will result in their enforcement team attending my property without notice.

What shall i do? :|

8-) With the help of this site so far I have......

Do you know how much you owe as confirmed by the Council, if not ring and ask how many Liability Orders they have, how much each one is for, how much is still outstanding on each, what period of time each one covers.

There is no law that says you have to deal with or speak to a Bailiff. In my opinion they are best ignored, do NOT under any circumstances allow them entry to your home. If you have anything lying outside move it NOW and if you have a car move that at least a 10 minute walk away.

A Bailiff collecting for Council must have on him when he calls and must produce if asked

1 - his Company ID

2 - his County Court Certificate - if collecting for CT he must have a current Certificate

3 - the authorisation of the authority allowing him to collect this debt

If he can't produce these tell him to go play with the cars on the motorway and come back when he does, you are allowed to ask for these each time he calls. You could also ask for good measure for a copy of the National Standards for Enforcement Agents, this can be given to you at a later date.

May pay for you to click the black triangle and ask this be moved to the Bailiff Forum.
