I am hoping for some advice please.

I am in dispute with my council over my council tax bill, as I have paid more than what they are claiming and seem totally oblivious to anything I show them to prove so!

I have several letters back and forth and I also did inform them that they would not be a allowed a doorstep visit in accordance with English common law to pursue a doorstep collection without my expresses, written consent (Armstrong v Shepard and Short Ltd (1959) 2 QB Lord Eveshed M.R.), that ive been informed about before, however I received a letter from them today stating 'the case law you quote is not relevant to council tax or its collection'.

Is this right, can someone advise me on this please?

I am still disputing the amount and have a meeting with them in the next couple of weeks but I dont see how they can be above the law??? Typical of this council to think they are though!

Thanks for any help given
