i v been done over in portugal lost everything in my car, direct line told me im not covered due to not having the green card however iv been advised they have to insure me when overseas

the policy will provide you with the minium cover required by law to drive in that country If you want to extend your existing cover i.e comp to cover you while abroad you have to pay extra dependant on the number of days abroad.

Read your policy booklet, Section G. When abroad, you are only covered for what we would call 'road traffic acts' which is basically claims against you by 3rd parties. If you wanted more cover, you should have phoned them before you left the country.
