Hi,

I'm freshly registered, and I (obviously) have a question to ask. So, if I may, here goes.

In June, my car insurance expired, and I phoned Yes Insurance to not automatically renew. Since then, they have hounded me to pay a non-cancellation fee of £92.54 and now they have passed it to a debt recovery company who have sent a letter threatening Formal Debt Recovery.

Just how serious is this? after all, the previous June (09) I paid for and got a year's worth of car insurance, but did not ask for automatic renewal, but it was imposed upon me.

Any advice would be gratefully received, as I am a pensioner, and this kind of figure will cause me financial grief.

Many thanks in anticipation.

YES Insurance is administered by BISL (Budget Insurance). They are known for these type of problems.

Just write to YES making a complaint (send recorded delivery), that you contacted them when the policy was due for renewal and asked for the policy not to be automatically renewed. Advise them, that it is their failure to stop the automatic renewal that has caused the problem. Threaten to make a formal complaint to the FOS, if they continue with this nonsense.

Suggest that you also send the debt company a copy of the letter, with a covering note saying that you will report them to the OFT, if they continue to communicate about this, while this is being investigated by the Insurance company.

We could do with some help from you.

Hi

Welcome to The Consumer Action Group.

I am just letting you know that as you haven't had any replies to your post yet, it might be better if you post your message again in an appropriate sub-forum. You will get lots of help there.

Also take some time to read around the forum and get used to the layout. It is a big forum and takes a lot of getting used to.

Once you start to find your way, you will soon realise that it is fairly easy to get round and to get the help you need.

It can be bit confusing at first.

Please be advised that my time will be limited for the next few weeks. Thanks for your understanding.
