Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I sent my Prelim letter on 11th August, heard nothing - so on 29th sent lba to the branch by special delivery (they would have definitely got that on the 30th.)
Today 1st Sept. I have rec'd a letter dated 30th August from Edinburgh offering 50% settlement with the conditions- Full and final settlement & any future charges that accrue must stand. So this letter was in reply to the prelim but arrived at the 11th hour.
HELP!!! I want to accept the 50% offer, as I am skint. But I want to pursue the full amount. However, I have already sent an LBA, as there was a crossing over of letters. Should I, sign the acceptance but cross out the conditions, or write a completely new letter.
Do you think they will pay out the 50% offer asap if I continue to pursue the whole amount?
If you accept the offer and say you will persue the rest, chances are they will withdraw the offer, personally i would reject the offer and start court proceedings, but that is my opinion only, its upto you now.
