Hi there - Not sure if this is the right place to ask this, did a search under Council Tax and there was a problem loading the page ? or none available ?

Anyhow - my local Council has just issued me with a Liability Order - giving 14 day's to respond with the form filled in, with personal details - what does this mean for me ?

Thanks Guy's.....

The council have obtained a liability order from the local magistrates court for non/late payment of council tax.

The form you where issued with (under reg 36 of the council tax (administration & enforcement) regs 1992) is a form which you are legally required to complete and return to the council. Most councils will ask for an offer of payment at this stage.

The granting of the liability order allwos the council to take further action (bailiff, attachment of earnings, bankruptcy etc) to recover the balance outstanding.
