This is my first post and on behalf of my brother, my brother fell ill in May this year and had "streptococcus pneumonia" and 2 days later of being seriously ill he went hospital and few hours later in ICU and put into a induced coma or heavy sleep docs gave him 25% survival rate, he has recovered fully. At the time he had multiple organ failure had the tube down in his neck for breathing since struggled by self.

He got his critical illness insurance around 2005 and the denied his claim today. I was looking on nation wide website and one of the conditions under the list of things the insurance covers is "Kidney Failure - requiring dialysis" which he had which boggles me why the denied claim since he was on the dialysis for quite a while.

He is going against the decision because he is clearly covered, so is there any other advice i could give him in this case to help him?

Thanks

Hello and welcome to CAG. I'm sorry about your brother - he and you have been through it, haven't you? There isn't necessarily a hard and fast rule for critical illness policies, and certainly your brother's claim will depend on the policy wording. Can you post a bit more on what it says about claims for dialysis in the policy document please? As much as you can, word for word would be very helpful. From what you've written, it sounds as if he's no longer on dialysis, am I right?

What reason did the insurers give for denying the claim?

Nothing in this post constitutes "advice" which I may not, in any event, be qualified to provide.

The only interpretation permitted on this post (or any others I may have made) is that this is what I would personally consider doing in the circumstances discussed. Each and every reader of this post or any other I may have made must take responsibility for forming their own view and making their own decision.

I receive an unwieldy number of private messages. I am happy to respond to messages posted on open forum but am unable to respond to private messages, seeking advice, when the substance of that message should properly be on the open forum.

Many thanks for your assistance and understanding on this.
