Default Abbey offered me one third of my claim

Wanted £500, offered £170. Rejected in letter back to them 14 days ago, have head nothing since. Should I leave it until the end of the week before I start court action? Thanks.

There have been some instances of Abbeyicon settling lower value refund requests without going through the legal channels. It would be worth your while calling them to discuss it - it could save months of muching about.

However, be fully prepared to have to take them to court, but only after you have followed the procedures laid down on this site. For starters, don't start a claim unless you have given the appropraite written notice to Abbey in the form of Letters Before Action which clearly state what you require and when you require it - there are templates on this site for these.

If you go into this with your eyes only half open, you will make the whole process much more stressful for yourself and a whole lot more difficult.

Read this site, then read it again. If you're not sure, read it again and ask questions before you make mistakes. Most questions will already have been covered here.

    Best of luck.

Finally got a letter back from Abbeyicon - they're refusing to budge from their initial offer.

    Court it is then... But

I also received all statements via microfishe going back 6 yearsicon. I had statements going back 5 years - should I claim for the extra period from 2000-2001 that was not in my initial claim?
