Dear all

My wife has her car insurance with them and the renewal came through last week at £550.

I looked on a comparison site and found them quoting at £430! so I called and they said they would price match - surprise surprise!

They asked if she had any accidents - nothing. I am a named driver but have my own car and own insurance - April 08 someone hit me and claimed via their policy as it was their fault. All sorted - a non fault bump settled no fuss.

Anyway, guy at Elephant now says my wifes premium will go up by £50??!! WHAT! nothing to do with her or Elephant, and the calim was a non fault, that was all settled in my favour!

Worse still was a letter this morning saying they want £154.42 additional premium for last yera as I didnt tell them about this "non fault" accident!!

How on earth can this be fair?? does every insurance company work like this?? and how can it be £154 last yera and £50 this?? They just seem to make figures up as they go....................

HELP

Technically they are correct in that as a named driver, the accident event should have been declared at the first renewal after it happened.

Suggest that you open up a complaint about the way this is being handled, as their actions appear to be a bit over the top. I suspect that they have just entered the info into their system and they are reporting the additional amounts their system has generated.

Alway best to make the complaint in writing to register your disatisfaction and to ask for a full explanation. Make the threat to continue this complaint with the FOS if necessary, as you are not happy with them backdating the change in premiums beyond the current period. This may prompt them to write off the £154

We could do with some help from you.

Hi

Welcome to The Consumer Action Group.

I am just letting you know that as you haven't had any replies to your post yet, it might be better if you post your message again in an appropriate sub-forum. You will get lots of help there.

Also take some time to read around the forum and get used to the layout. It is a big forum and takes a lot of getting used to.

Once you start to find your way, you will soon realise that it is fairly easy to get round and to get the help you need.

It can be bit confusing at first.

Please be advised that my time will be limited for the next few weeks. Thanks for your understanding.
