Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Back in Jan'00 I sold up and moved, and was astonished at how much the Woolwich had taken out for their own gain!!! On a £60,000 mortgage after 2.5 years, I gave them back around £65-67,000!! I could'nt believe it at the time, but now knowing what I do, I know it is just outside the 6 year limit for backdating claims, I want to look a little further into it.
I'm going to send a SAR to try and get all the information they have on me. I don't think I'm going to send the one in the templates, as I want to be a little bit more subtle, hoping to get any info a little quicker.
I am a bit of a hoarder, and I'm going to see if I can dig any info from my own archives, but I don't think I'll have much luck there. At the moment I don't think I have the account number or any other details to give them, only my full name and address at the time.
I'm going to investigate, anyway, and we'll see what comes of it.
If I ask for any information dating from Jul'97 - Jan'00, will they still have this info on me, and will I be able to get it through the DPA? Any other advice/opinion would be greatly appreciated!
Was the £5-7000 "taken" by the Woolwich actually bank charges? Or was it just the interest charged on the mortgage?? If it was interest then I'm afraid they are perfectly entitled to charge this and you won't be able to reclaim it. If it was indeed bank charges then I don't know much about claiming back further than 6 years but I'm sure someone on here who does will be along soon.
No, they definately were not all interest charges. I really can't remember what they were all for, but my thoughts are that if I can get the info from them, I can analyse it and make a judgement from what I know, now!
They are still obliged to give me any info under the DPA, though, are'nt they? My only worry is that they will still have my mortgage account details on their system? And if so, how do they file or store any archive records?
