I have to cancel a direct debit Today or else the debit will bounce as i have no money in it. I have cancelled the service and i dont want any money out. My questuions are
Can i cancel it today no problems or did i have to give them a few days notice ?

In my bank, the Halifax, I have to give a few days notice. I have tried cancelling the day before but they usually say its too late.
Don't know about other banks, but its worth a try. better the price of a phone call to ask than more charges.

Barclays and Natwest immediately. you have 2 options well 3
1 cancel the direct debit and recall payment
2. recall the payment and leave the direct debit live
3.cancel the direct debit.
remember as long as you do it you wont be charged.
