Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I have several accounts with alliance and leicester including an ISA and two savings accounts aswell as a joint account for bills etc. i want to claim back charges on my personal current account and i am aware that they will close my account. does anybody know if they would close all my other accounts also?
I have one personal current account with A&L for which i will be attempting to claim back charges. However i also have an ISA and several savings accounts with A&L aswell as another joint current account. I am aware that A&L will close my personal current account once they have refunded my charges but does anyone know if they are likely to close all my other accounts also
i have followed each step from the start, ie, request for repayment, lba etc, and I am now about to file a court claim against A&L.
I am going to do it online.
I have read the tips about filling in the claim(which i have found very useful) but i was wondering where do i put the information regarding the schedule of charges? do i send these to the court separately with my claim number as reference, or is the total claim amount that i state on my particulars of claim all the info they need?
Hi,
You can't file them online, so you have to send them to the court and a copy to your bank if you haven't already done so.

Just to let you know that i have filed my claim on line and i have recieved a letter from A&L solicitors saying they intend to fully defend the claim. I notice that some other members of the forum have had the same response.
Has anybody had to go to court recently? or has everyone recieved a refund?
Hi Louise, ive had exactly the same, i filed my claim on 22nd August!! and i think they've got 28 days to submit a defence, i was hoping they would pay out before that!!!!!!! good luck danni x
When the Liberals and Conservatives were in opposition they both agreed that banks should pay back high bank charges to customers. Nothing seems to of happened since they came into power as a coalition. PPI insurance has been sorted now they should turn their attention to bank charges and help customers get exorbitant charges refunded.

Yeah, I had the AOS stating they intended to defended the claim in full. They didnt , so I got judgement against them. They only bothered to respond when the bailiff turned up. The applied for leave to file a defence out of time, in which they admitted they owed me money anyway-so that didnt go down too well with the district judge. The judge orderd them to pay the amount they admitted. They are disputing the balance of my claim, so I am ready to go back to court if neccessary to finish the job off. They are also looking at potential lawsuits from me in respect of harassment and defamation of character, so my advice is, dont panic, see it thru, and you WILL win. It just takes time...as regards to closing accounts, they have stated on BBC radio that anyone who litigates against them will have their account closed. So you need to find another account to pay in that refund cheque youll be getting!
I recieved Full and final settlement from A&L this morning
I recieved my full claim plus interest and court costs.
can the mods move this thread as necessary and can someone let me know how I make my donation:?
Thanks everyone for your help and i hope those still waiting or about to start recieve their settlement soon.
A&L haven't closed my account as yet but my letter did state that someone would be in touch regarding the account as i obviously don't agree with their terms and conditions.
