    Default HFC have offered compensation-acceptable?

    Hi All,
If you have a look you'll see I've had a dispute with HFC over my Credit File Report. I've submitted all the paperwork, with proof that their error led to me having to take a sub prime mortgageicon with the total extra paid (over the bank of england base rate) being £16136 (as well as arrangement fee's, a sub prime loan, the embarressment of credit refusal in stores etc.)

They've agreed it was their mistakes fully, and have now changed it (after numerous refusals for mortgages from lenders over the last 6 yearsicon)

They've also agreed that they accept all the info I've given as factually correct.

Anyway, after days of considering it they've offered me £750. Is it acceptable, or do I seek legal advice. I'm a bit miffed considering everything thats gone wrong because of their mistake and they offer me what I think is a paltry amount.

Anyway, the floors open, will a Solicitor wipe the floor with them, or is it a risky venture?

    Thanks

    Tony

It is a bit risky in some ways to go ''all the way'', the CRA is also jointly responsible for holding and processing whatever information especially searches
that should not be placed on your report ''Under searches made in regard to credit applications or whatever wording the individual CRA uses.
I have just been through this with a well known debt collectionicon agency that has
paid compensation,I am now taking on the CRA to pay compensation for their part in ****ing up my credit report so together with your offered £750 a judge may well consider that you've been adequately compensated.
I took top counsels advice on this his comment is English civil law is base on what is reasonable- not necessarily what we want!!

    Hi,
Thanks for the sppedy reply. I don't know if its worth mentioning but theres a few things to consider:
    • I live in Scotland, and did while this was happening
    • They (HFC) say the blame lays solely with them as it was an adminicon and computer error.
    • They have apologised for their Staff shouting and getting abusive.
    • They ask ed me what I want, why, and to supply evidence of it, which I've done.
Does that lot change anyones opinion one way or the other?

Hi, Can you quantify the monetary cost of the errors, the you should list with dates if poss all the instances that have occurred that have resulted in either
in actual financial loss together with any instance that has caused no actual financial loss but has caused distressicon, embarrassment or loss of face or reputation including refusals of credit or other services, when done in this case i would seek professional advise on the probability of success in court.
    The Brig.
