Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Hi, can anyone give me some advice please.
We owed money on our council tax, phoned the local council, who said it had been sent to the bailiff, we called the bailiffs equita straight away, who said they would set up a payment plan and would send a payment book which we did not receive, we paid the 1st installment, then we started receiving letters from the bailiffs saying we hadn't been in touch & they would visit us we again called them & they said it was with the bailiff in charge who we called he said they wanted the full amount my husband tried to make his installment payment which they refused, they then said we also had an out standing debt from 2003 so they are asking for £3000. I called the debtline who advised calling the council. I called the council they have said they have negotiated with the bailiff a repayment of £300 per mnth to the bailiff.
We cannot afford this.
Do we go back to the council stating this.
Also why are they asking £1500 for counciltax in 2003 when it was £1000
Sorry its so long, has anyone got any advice as what to do next
Thankyou
