Default A&L said they stop charges

on OH's account but this week he's been charged another £34 for unpaid DD and £55 for going overdrawn. This has been going on for months, they take half his wages every week on charges.

He spoke to them and requested the statements for 6 yearsicon, they asked why and he told them he was disputing charges. They said that they wouldn't charge anymore until the dispute is settled. Can the continue charging?

They sent out some sort of form that needs to be completed to request the statements is this another delaying tactic?

The only letter you need to send off at this point is the DPA in the templates libraryicon. The letter they have sent you isn't really a delaying tactic as such, but if you send off the DPA letter, it contains everything they need to know in order to send you your statements.

If you haven't already done it then i suggest you read the FAQ's asap. You'll find everything you need to get you started.

    A&L Data Protection Act sent 8/6/2006 - Statements received 27/7 - Prelim request for payment sent 28/7 - LBA sent 8/8 - MCOL 21/8 - Settled in full £3317.66 20/9

Morgan Stanley Data Protection Act sent 8/8 Total of £875 charges.

Good advice there from leebrennan. I think the form is fairly standard, although not strictly necessary. Did your husband pay the £10 fee or are they asking for it? They have 40 days to comply with the request from the date they receive payment.

I know that if an account is in disputeicon they cannot take action until the dispute is resolved, but I am not sure about charging. If they have said they won't then lets hope they stick to it.

When the Liberals and Conservatives were in opposition they both agreed that banks should pay back high bank charges to customers. Nothing seems to of happened since they came into power as a coalition. PPI insurance has been sorted now they should turn their attention to bank charges and help customers get exorbitant charges refunded.
