Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I brought a car from a local dealer about 4 months ago.
Driving around yesterday and the back box of the exhaust falls off. Looking at it, it looks like the pipe was corroded. It is not a clean cut. The tail pipe was also not in good condition. Its a '98 Ford Escort and needs atleast half of the exhaust replacing from what I can see. But i'm no expert
Can I take this back to the dealer for him to sort out or am I left to do it on my own?
I have the receipt and haven't yet checked for any advisories which I know I should of done before purchase
IMO I would believe that it would be best to sort it out yourself, a 12 year old car would be expected to be falling to bits, especially a ford, sorry, however if on looking at the sales receipt it is mentioned, and depending on what warranty you had with the car, it is perfectly feasable to take it back to them, but if it is 'Sold as seen' then there is little to no ca=hnace of them paying for a new exhaust.
Besides there are a lot of circumstances that can lead to the early demise of an exhaust, short runs where the exhaust isn't allowed to heat up correctly, and frequent stop starts.
