    Question A&L want my money - over my dead body!

    Hi I'm new to this today as I received a letter from A&L this morning claiming I owe them £500 in charges. The first time I knew I had any charges was last month when I was charged £25 for being overdrawn by £5 for over a year (I haven't used the account in ages!) i asked to close my account yet they wont allow it till I pay them back this money. At the samt time £50 will be taken off each month. I'm sending them the Subject access requesticon form. Does anyone know the data protection officer's address to whom I send this? :?

    welcom to the forum, be sure to check out the FAQ's and read as many threads as you can. There's plenty in there to help you every step of the way.

    Ring A&L and tell them that you are disputing the charges. If the account is in disputeicon that should stop any further charges being made until the dispute is settled.

    A&L Data Protection Act sent 8/6/2006 - Statements received 27/7 - Prelim request for payment sent 28/7 - LBA sent 8/8 - MCOL 21/8 - Settled in full £3317.66 20/9
    MBNA Data Protection Act sent 8/8 - 14/9 Offer of £2,247.35 accepted. (£1,160 charges plus compound interest). Second account = offer of £1,182.30 (£436 charges plus compound interest)
    Morgan Stanley Data Protection Act sent 8/8 Total of £875 charges.
